Onsite Generation of 7N / 9N Ultra-High Purity Hydrogen

This hydrogen gas generator relies on methanol reforming as core chemical route, with methanol steam reforming as the dominant catalytic reaction. Liquid methanol mixed with demineralized water is heated and vaporized, then flows into catalyst reactor to split into hydrogen-rich crude syngas containing CO₂ and trace CO. Different from ordinary single-stage purification equipment, this hydrogen gas generator adds high-selectivity metal membrane separation unit to filter ppb-level impurities, which is critical for high-tech manufacturing with strict gas index limits. On-site methanol feed avoids risks of long-distance hydrogen cylinder transportation, forming stable, low-cost green hydrogen solutions for long-running hydrogen production plant and cleanroom workshops.

Methanol Reforming & Multi-Stage Membrane Purification Technical Principle

The core chemical reaction inside the methanol reformer of this hydrogen gas generator is methanol steam reforming: CH₃OH + H₂O ⇌ 3H₂ + CO₂ under 200–300℃ catalytic environment, with methanol conversion rate over 98%. Crude syngas after reforming contains hydrogen, carbon dioxide and trace carbon monoxide.
  1. Single-stage metal membrane process: Directly filter crude syngas through dense palladium alloy membrane; hydrogen atoms penetrate membrane lattice while large-molecule impurities are intercepted, stably outputting 7N ultra-pure hydrogen for medium-precision production.
  2. Dual PSA + membrane polishing process: Molecular sieve PSA first removes most CO₂ and hydrocarbon impurities, then secondary metal membrane further eliminates residual trace contaminants, realizing 9N hydrogen with ppb-grade impurity content, fully meeting semiconductor chip manufacturing standards.

Waste heat generated during methanol reforming is recycled to preheat raw material mixture, greatly cutting the overall energy consumption of the hydrogen gas generator and improving the economic performance of green hydrogen solutions.

FAQ’S

What feedstock and water quality does CPH methanol reformer require

CPH hydrogen gas generator runs on industrial methanol above 99.85% purity paired with demineralized water. Impure feedstock will poison metal membrane and reform catalyst, lowering the stability of methanol steam reforming reaction.

What are the core gaps between CPH and YPH methanol reforming equipment

CPH adopts metal membrane secondary purification to output 7N/9N ultra-pure hydrogen, targeting semiconductor factories. YPH only supports single PSA 5N hydrogen for general industry, without ultra-trace impurity removal modules for reforming methanol.

Can CPH container-type methanol reformer be relocated for temporary projects

All CPH hydrogen generator adopts integrated ISO container layout. After simple disconnection of utilities, the whole skid can be transported and reinstalled to match mobile green hydrogen solutions for pilot demonstration sites.

How does CPH metal membrane purification differ from PEM Electrolyzer purity route

CPH relies on methanol reforming + metal membrane filtering to reach 9N hydrogen. PEM water electrolysis gains high purity through electrochemical splitting, yet its operating cost is much higher for medium flow hydrogen production plant.

Can the tail gas of CPH reforming system support CO₂ Capture and utilization

The crude syngas from methanol steam reforming contains concentrated CO₂ components. Supporting CO₂ Capture & CO₂ Purification equipment can recover by-product carbon dioxide to offset overall operating expenditure.

What power supply conditions fit the operation of CPH hydrogen gas generator

CPH methanol reformer only needs low installed power compared with water electrolysis devices. It adapts stable factory grid power, and does not rely on large-capacity power distribution for continuous reforming methanol production.
